9/11 Foreshadowing in Cosby's 'A Different World'

Last week I discovered one of my favorite old TV shows A Different World on Netflix. The infamous Cosby Show spinoff was a staple of my childhood and motivated a lot of young people to attend college.

But what started out as a true '80's freak-out, geek-out moment replete with my goofy grin and shrieks of delight as I clicked the play button, quickly turned into a study in synchromysticism and 9/11 foreshadowing.

First, I noticed the nightshirt worn by Jalessa Vincent (played by Dawnn Lewis) in several episodes. (Note: Jaleesa is a Hebrew name meaning "God's promise").

Much of the first season's action takes places in the dorm room Jaleesa shares with the show's star Denise Huxtable (played by Lisa Bonet). During the episodes their room number inexplicably changes from 20 Y to 201. If, hypothetically, Y=Year, then substituting Y for 01 gives 2001.

Seasons 1-3 have a running theme of challenging male versus female gender roles and stereotypes. They also contain repetitive usage of airplane and plane crash imagery.

In a debate on whether women should be equal to men in the workplace, Whitley Gilbert (played by Jasmine Guy) uses the jarring analogy of a female air traffic controller causing two planes to crash in mid-air to exemplify the dangers of letting women take on typically male jobs.

Later in the series she eventually grows to accept more feminist views.

Similarly, Dwayne Wayne's character (played by Kadeem Hardison) undergoes a full alchemical metamorphosis on screen. He starts out in the role of a narrow-minded guy doggedly pursuing and viewing every woman he meets as strictly sexual objects.

But later we see him first struggling with then finally embracing his role as a "Miss Hillman" contestant and championing non-sexist treatment of women.

Thus, both Dwayne and Whitley move toward the hieros gamos, the merging of their masculine and feminine sides. Psychologically, this is reflected in Jung's concept of individuation through the integration of the Anima and the Animus. It can also be found in the Gnostic premise of the "two becoming one".

In Season 2, the actual date of September 11th is mentioned in a scene recounting examples of Dwayne's worst college antics as he hangs his head in shame.

Notice in the above scene that Walter accuses Dwayne of initiating a September 11th panty raid on LIBBY Hall. 

This is another sync to Supertramp's Breakfast in America album. The waitress on the album cover is named Libby, a nickname for Lady Liberty a.k.a. The Statue of Liberty.

In Season 2, Episode 14, aptly entitled "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do", Dwayne attempts to consummate his new state of enlightenment by giving a ring to his girlfriend, a kind of divine marriage.

But when she rejects him, he angrily declares himself "the pilot" and threatens, "Either we fly UNITED, or we fly solo".

United Airlines Flights 175 and 93 were both involved in the September 11th attacks.

Now Dwayne Wayne is clearly identified as symbolizing a pilot who raided our liberty on 9/11. But the fact of the matter is that his signature flip-up glasses identified him as "The Pilot" all along.

He was also often dressed in aviator bomber jackets and shirts covered with airplanes, flying pigs, and other symbols.

Just as Dwayne Wayne symbolizes "The Pilot", Ron Johnson (played by Darryl M. Bell) symbolizes "The Towers". Interestingly, Ron's father in real life, Travers J. Bell, Jr., was the founder of the first black firm on the New York Stock Exchange.

Note: In the episode "Strangers on a Plane" (pictured above) Dwayne is assigned seat 4D (=44) but moves to sit with Whitley in seat 2C (=23). Read the recent post from The Sync Whole about the '23 enigma' and frequent references to a "Flight 23" in TV shows and movies like Star Trek and The Twilight Zone.

The first episode of A Different World aired in September 1987, fourteen years before 9/11/2001. This brings to mind many of the usual questions encountered when dealing with synchronicity:  

• Was the information written into the show intentionally? (and why?) 
• Or did it emerge spontaneously, perhaps due to some phenomena in our collective consciousness? 
• Were the actors aware? Could the show's creator's possible foreknowledge have any bearing on current events? (i.e. embattled Bill Cosby?)
• From a scientific and psychological standpoint, what does this indicate about the existence of Time and the human mind?

As always, the answers can be quite subjective and you must determine them for yourself.  This particular brand of pop culture alchemy is far from unique.

9/11 foreshadowing has been pointed out in a host of other movies and television shows, including The Simpsons, The Lone Gunman, Trading Places, Back to the Future, The Big Lebowski, and Double Indemnity.

The Takeaway: Don't let this info ruin your enjoyment of what, in my opinion, was one of the best TV shows of the late '80's and early '90's. However, do understand that EVERYTHING has multiple layers of context. To think otherwise is to handicap yourself to the nature of the reality in which we live.

Norway and The Big Lebowski

Surprisingly, the movie 'The Big Lebowski' syncs to the recent Norway massacre.

For those who may not know, TBL is famous in the Syncosphere for its many Jesus references as well as several scenes that seem to have predicted 9/11 (for more info see William Morgan's video Man In the Mirror).

Movie scene: Check dated Sept. 11th as President GWB is on TV overhead.

The movie was released in Norway on September 11, 1998—exactly 3 years before the events of 9/11.

Further Norway syncs entrain through the characters of Maude (played by Julianne Moore) and Bunny Lebowski (played by Tara Reid).

The following video clip is a dream sequence from the film with Maude dressed as a Norse Viking goddess.

Toward the end of the movie a private investigator reveals that Bunny Lebowski is really Fawn Knutsen, a teen runaway from Moorhead, Minnesota.

Knutsen is a Norwegian surname.  Moorhead, MN is located in the Red River Valley, an area known for its strong Norwegian heritage. 

It's also the site of some of the flattest, richest FARMland in the whole world.

In the movie scene (above) a photo of the Knutsen family FARM is shown.

Bunny a.k.a Fawn is also seen wearing the Orange and Black school colors of The Moorhead Spuds.  

In Norwegian terrorist Anders Behring Breivik's Facebook photo (below) he's wearing a Black sweater over an Orange shirt.

Breivik's FARM (where he hid the explosives used in the bombing) is located in the county of Hedmark in Aamot, Norway.

The words Moor and Mark can both be used as verbs meaning "to fix" when related to a ship.

Therefore, MOORhead = HedMARK. 

How's that for Synchromystic foreshadowing?

Another sync exists between Moorhead and the name of actress Julianne Moore.  The name Julianne means "son of Jove/Jupiter". 

In this context, Moore/Moorhead suggests a return to the Godhead symbolized by the planet Jupiter (Thanks to Eleleth at the Cosmos Idikos blog for this wisdom).

It is a timely reference since NASA's Juno space probe will be travelling to Jupiter next week on 8/05.

There was also a FARM-related Tweet on July 28th from William Morgan (@satoriallme on Twitter) that helped pull things together for me.

The Farm symbolizes our relationship with the feminine aspect of the Earth.  Bunny a.k.a Fawn KNUTsen resonates the Egyptian sky goddess NUT whose husband is the Earth god Geb.

In a world ruled by Love our relationship with the Earth Mother energy would be symbiotic.  We would cherish her and she would nourish and sustain us, forever.

But in this Fear-based society we continually violate, abuse, and misuse her (i.e. Bunny is exploited as a porn star; Breivik used the Farm to create and store deadly weapons rather than to grow food).

In one final sync-related note, actress Tara Reid was often compared to late singer Amy Winehouse in the media due to her very public battle with Alcoholism.

Winehouse was found dead in her home on July 23rd, the day after Breivik committed the Norway bombing and massacre.

In the movie, Dude Lebowski and his team bowl on Lane 23.  But lanes 23 and 24 (or 42) share the same scoring station—they are opposite sides of the same coin. 

When the Dude agonizes over whether to tell the Truth he is on the 42 side.

When Walter becomes violent and pulls a gun they're playing on the 23 side.

It's up to each of us to choose on which side we wish to play, or, ideally, to acknowledge and integrate the best aspects of both through the process of Individuation.

In the film one of the dual aspects of the Dude's animus is represented by Walter Sobchak, the temperamental Vietnam vet who also has a loyal and piously religious side.

As usual, a chicken-or-egg type scenario emerges here. 

Did the Coen Brothers realize they were incorporating these deep elements into the movie, or was it simply Synchronicity at work silently in the background?

I tend to believe the latter when it comes to movies mainly because I regularly witness Sync working behind the scenes in my own life. 

But in the words of Walter Sobchak...am I wrong?

Nostradamus Predicts NYC 'PATH' of Destruction

This MSNBC news clip that aired on New Year's Eve jibes nearly word-for-word with one of Nostradamus' foreboding prophetic passages.

I'll apologize in advance for such a dire analysis on this, the first day of a Happy Happy New Year 2011.  But I was watching a re-run of the news on TV after the ball dropped and this bit made my mouth fall open.

I just happened to have been reading The Book of Nostradamus online for the past few days while researching my previous post Barack Obama—The Last MABUS. 

That's the only reason I recognized the "PATH" reference in the news clip.  I find that coincidence too weird for words.

Ok. So, here is the Original Quatrain:

Garden of the world near the new city,
In the path of the hollow mountains:
It will be seized and plunged into the Tub,
Forced to drink waters poisoned by sulfur.
Century 10, Quatrain 49. The Book of Nostradamus.

Now here is my Unscrambled Version:

Near the garden in the New City of the world
The Path in the hollow mountains
Will be seized and plunged into the Tub
Forced to drink waters poisoned by sulfur

The following are descriptions and phrases taken verbatim from the MSNBC news video clip:

* New York's PATH subway train is "burrowed through solid bedrock".  (NOTE: This is very similar to Nostradamus' description of the "Path" being hollowed through a mountain).

* The underwater part of the subway lines run under the Hudson River. They sit just under a thin layer of silt and mud leaving them vulnerable.

* Counter-terrorism measures are being taken to add...Flood Gates installed on both ends to plug the tunnels in a worst case scenario.

* This is a 600 million dollar upgrade stemming from a 2006 terrorist plot that targeted the PATH tubes as a way to flood the "Bathtub".

"Bathtub" is a name used for the World Trade Center site.

The "Bathtub" contained the footprints of the Twin Towers and Buildings 3 and 6.

Nostradamus also tells us specifically that the "Path" will be "plunged into the Tub" and forced to drink waters poisoned by sulfur. 

This sounds like a clear description of an underground subway being submerged under water due to a bomb.

The PATH website's info page for the World Trade Center Station shows that Battery Park is within walking distance of the station. 

This matches Nostradamus' description that the "Path" is "near the garden" in the new (York) city. 

On the bright side, I strongly believe this Quatrain could very well be referring to the 2006 terrorist plot which, thankfully, has already been averted. 

Ergo, we learn what we should already know.  Fate is not written in stone.

I was watching "The Event" last night on TV when I noticed some curiously synchronistic 9/11 symbols.
