The Reddening

We have symbolically completed the final stage of the alchemical process known as Rubedo or the "reddening".

I first mentioned this in a previous post back in July.  Now, in November we are seeing the culmination of the reddening via the U.S. mid-term election results.

The "reddening" of America on November 4th

The Empire State Building turns RED for election day 2014.

The fact that the reddening process spanned from July to November was no coincidence.

The first letters of the months July, August, September, October, and November spell out the name JASON, as in Jason and the Argonauts.

Jason's mythical quest to obtain the "golden fleece" is often used as a metaphor for alchemical endeavors.

Recall that Rubedo ("redness") represents the fourth and final major stage in the alchemical magnum opus or great work.

It's fitting then that one week earlier Taylor Swift released her fifth album '1989', marking a definitive end of her fourth album 'Red'.

On November 3rd, One World Trade Center tower was officially opened to the public for the first time since 9/11.

The WTC opening ritual heavily signified the culmination or completion of one process and, possibly, the rebirth of something new.

Another symbol used to represent Rubedo is the phoenix as reflected in the phoenix rising imagery of the upcoming release of "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" movie.

From a psychological view according to Jung, the reddening stage represents the merging of the ego and the Self.  It is the point at which the self discovers its true nature and manifests in a state of wholeness. (see the Mask of God post 'Rubedo').

The Rubedo was also alluded to on the two latest episodes of Sleepy Hollow in the form of Jincan, a red poison made from the blood of scorpions and the other most deadly venomous creatures in the world after they fight one another to the death inside the bottle.

"Although the opposites flee from one another they nevertheless strive for balance...
They do this by wearing each other out: the one eats the other like the two dragons or the
other ravenous beasts of alchemical symbolism." (from The Mask of God, 'Rubedo')

The one eats the other

I do think there is something new on the horizon for this world, but it's not in the form of the same-old establishment.

As the character Red Reddington (played by James Spader) stated on a recent episode of the TV show 'The Blacklist', the current system of governance is "an operatic perversion of righteous intent".

Regardless of how things may appear, the empire has ended. And what will emerge in in its place will be something altogether unexpected. I can't wait to see.
